Basement in Gaithersburg, MD

An unfinished basement with an assortment of beams and ductwork presented a challege for a family that desired a large multi-function space including a bedroom, bathroom, playroom, exercise space and storage. Add to that the client's desire for the space to be indestructible and able to survive the occasional rain water infiltration while still being playful and fun led to the design solution. Materials such as stained concrete presented a warm, sturdy alternative to carpet.
