MFA was retained by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to design a new shelter to provide emergency 30-day accommodation to homeless families. The building consists of 16 single units and 9 family residential units with ancillary support spaces.
Working with design architect KnuDesign, the building works to create a durable, functional, and efficient that houses the residents in need with dignity and with beauty.
The building is designed to meet LEED standards while additionally meeting the demands of a transient population.
