Cherry Grove Apartments in Altoona, Pennsylvania was originally constructed between 1980 and 1982. The existing buildings are wood framed structures with concrete slab-on-grade foundations and pitch roofs, all of which was in relatively good condition. There are seventy-six total dwelling units in seven residential buildings including fourteen (14) one-bedroom, thirty-six (36) two-bedroom, and twenty-six (26) three-bedroom units.
The general scope of the renovation centered on the replacement of select building systems, including the HVAC, water heaters, doors, windows, and finishes. Other modifications included the modification of the existing barrier free units for disabled residents. Site modification included replacement of handrails and guardrails, trash enclosures, site lighting, and playground equipment.
This renovation was completed with the tenants-in-place.
