The Eastern Branch Boys and Girls Club is a 1920’s building that has served as a pillar in the Eastern Branch neighborhood in Washington, DC. For decades, youth have utilized the building for swimming, sporting events, and social gathering. However, the building has been vacant for several years and had started to fall under disrepair. As part of an RFP that the DC GIS issued, Miner Feinstein Architects partnered with the Menkiti Group and Dantes Partners to adapt the building from a vacant shell to once again fulfill a necessary roll in the neighborhood. In this case, the need for quality affordable senior housing. The design consists of gutting the insides of the existing structure as well as creating a two story addition that will not only allow for more dwelling units, but will propel the grand building into the 21st Century.
